We are all currently living in a time of uncertainty and chaos in our environment. We are seeing and experiencing daily changes to life as we have known it. Our wellbeing, economy, job, travel and lives are all undergoing refinement whether we want it or not. I wanted to reach out to everyone today and to let you know that I’m thinking about each and every one of you.
Knowing this can be a difficult time for some people I wanted to share a few tips that I use every daily to support myself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Tip 1
Do a daily practice of taking time to be still. This could be meditation, listening to some really quiet music, going for a walk, just sitting still and observing the birds the trees the wind or going for an early morning swim. Whatever you do give yourself a little bit of time each day to be still and to just sit in a space of calm. This practice impacts every part of your physiology as well as every aspect of your being.
Tip 2
Staying present and in the moment. For me this is something that is always a work in progress as my mind has a tendency to become overactive and take over. This means I can get caught up in stories of distraction very easily, and this can be very challenging in times of uncertainty.
Tip 3
Keep yourself informed (of course), however remember that not all information you hear will be of benefit. It’s very easy to get swept up in the herd mentality and then we lose sight what is really resonating with us. An overwhelm of conflicting information can be very difficult to absorb, so stop and ask yourself ‘Does this information resonate with me?’ Take what resonates and leave the rest behind.
Tip 4
It’s so important to keep well hydrated. If we take a lesson from nature you will see how plants, when stressed or in times of drought, look sick and are far more susceptible to disease. The same applies to us, remember we are 60% water, so keep hydrated to support your body so it can function at its optimum.
Tip 5
We all know that our personal hygiene is very important. Personally, I use organic hand wash and a selection of Essential Oils. Once again nature has the answers and we humans should be paying more attention to nature’s gifts. I won’t drone on about this as we are all responsible adults, so be responsible and act with respect for ourselves and others.
Tip 6
Look carefully at the foods you are eating. It’s important to be aware of the fuel that we are putting into our body so make sure that it’s suitable and will give us the best possible energy outcome. I eat organic as much as possible as I like to minimise the chemicals I ingest. You can always use a really good fruit and vegie wash if you don’t have access to organic, or the budget doesn’t stretch to organic. Most wellbeing food stores stock a great variety.
Tip 7
Stress is an interesting topic. We all do it and we have lots of different interactions with it. Stress happens when our thoughts take over and tell us a story regardless of its truth, we then engage by future pacing ourselves, e.g. It might happen, it should look like this , What If….. The stress stories playing out in our head, this type of thinking can and does have a very detrimental effect on our nervous and immune systems. Remember you have choice in being aware and changing your thinking. Consciously you drive the bus, unconsciously your stories and consequent thinking take over as the driver, and you become just another unconscious passenger. So be aware of who’s driving the bus.
Do you have another tips you would like to share?
